IRA is the leading advocate for reading professionals. As a member, you’ll gain access to resources that translate the latest scientifically based reading research into proven practice and find support from peers who share your love of teaching.

Individual memberships

In addition to regular individual memberships, IRA offers a selection of special categories to meet the needs of students, retired members, members in countries with developing economies, and spouses/partners.

Special reduced rate membership categories

bulletStudents
Discounted rate applies for up to five years to students enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program. Find out more.

bulletEmeritus
Members must be fully retired and have been an IRA member continuously for 10 years. Contact customer service to verify eligibility, or simply download and print the emeritus form.

bulletDeveloping economies
Individuals who live in countries with developing economies (as defined by the World Bank) receive discounts on journals and the Reading Today newspaper. Members who join at the developing economies rate do not receive Reading Today unless they specifically select that option.

For more information about these categories as well as spouse/partner memberships and 25-year memberships, contact customer service or call 800-336-7323 (U.S. and Canada) or 302-731-1600.

Institutional subscriptions

IRA also offers institutional subscriptions for schools, school districts, colleges and universities, libraries, and other institutions.
