Award of Excellence

A Program for State and Provincial Associations

Overview: The Award of Excellence is presented annually by the International Reading Association to state and provincial associations that have distinguished themselves through organizing and implementing a wide range of programs and activities in their state or province that (a) serve and support councils and members, (b) contribute to education, and (c) coincide with and support the programs and goals of the Association.

Eligibility: In order to qualify for the Award of Excellence, a state/provincial association’s current officers (president, vice president/president-elect, vice president-elect, coordinator, secretary, and treasurer) must be members of the International Reading Association. Documented evidence showing how the state/provincial association has excelled in the three areas specified above must be submitted to Association Headquarters.

Deadline: All documented data must be postmarked no later than March 1. However, the associations may submit the information to Headquarters any time prior to the deadline—and are encouraged to do so.
